Alexinder Gunn: News

its a Long Road. - June 9, 2010

its a long road to Kerrville, TX. many hours of counting the stripes on the highway and the scars and tire marks left behind from poor misfortune, and things change, and time wears on. my body is tired and my mind becomes diluted at times, but i can see truth. its been, well, i dont even know how many days its been. Time doesnt mean a lot here. the only thing that really matters is Music. and Music will unfold a great journey. I've been working on Stage Crew, almost every day. its a fun job. but its long. its hot in Texas, i dont have many clothes that are not covered in sweat, im excited to go to Austin, its going to be good. i cant stop thinking about it. my life is opening up before me, and i see my paths, its going to be a hard road, but im willing to walk it. but only time will tell.

Lullabies for the Damned - December 8, 2009

Getting ready for Key West, on February 1st 2010 i'll be heading down to Florida to go on tour with 'Lullabies for the Damned' a new band including myself, Raymond Husmann, Dave Vining, and Patrick Vining. Dave playes lead Electric guitar and the Dobro, Patrick plays Bass and Acoustic Guitar, Raymond plays Acoustic Guitar, Percussion, Lead and Backing Vocals, and I play Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica, Percussion, Lead and Backing Vocals.

little time and $6 in my pocket is where i am right now, not the best way to be ready for at least a month of travel, all the shows i play and odd jobs i have found have only been able to keep food in my stomach and cigarettes in my pocket for the past 2 years. and a lot of the money i've made has gone to keeping this website going, constantly getting shut down for late payments, trying to live souley on music is not easy, especially in Fredericksburg, VA. there is almost no money in this scene, and almost no respect for musicians by the venues. i think its about to cave in.

On the Road Again... - June 30, 2009

Its been a while, being stuck in Virginia is not fun. its been over a year now since i've had a formal job, and since then i haven't had more then $50 in my pocket. right now i have $2.
but in the last 2 months things have been picking up a little, i played a show at borders bookstore last friday and a man cam up and asked me for a cd, he handed me some money and said keep the change, he left right after and my friend Lynn asked me if he just handed me $100 bill, it was folded up, i didnt remember what they looked like anymore, opened it up there it was $100 from a stranger, someone who said only a few words to me, not even a name. so now i am able to go back out on the road, out to Okemah, Oklahoma. for the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival. this time last year i was gearing up for the ultamate ending to an amazing journey from Virginia to Texas to Minnesota to Oklahoma. After coming home from that things didnt go so great for me, but now the sky seems to be opening back up. Oklahoma Here i come.

Bound for Glory - April 29, 2008

in a few hours it will be exactly one week to my 21st birthday.

i got the good news that i will be in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival this year, i have been to the festival twice before just to watch and it is amazing, this is a dream come true.

im going to be heading off for Texas in mid May for the Kerrville Folk Festival. it will be my first time going to that one, im just going to watch and make friends, it should be epic. i cant afford to drive back to Virginia in between Kerrville and Woody Fest so i am trying to book shows for the month of void, hanging out in Kerrville, Austin, Okemah, Tulsa, and anywhere i can set up a tent on the way, im looking for players, pickers, poets, travelers, vagabonds, train hoppers, beatniks, Peaceniks, hipsters, gypsters, and tramps to help pass the time on the road, the space between sunup and sundown, the relentless, ongoing, unforgiving Texas heat, the rolling Oklahoma Hills, and oil wells,

is this train Bound for Glory?

Be Ready.... - January 24, 2008

For Folk Music is Dead the Album! it will be Released in early February

one truth that will stand - October 22, 2007

ive been working hard on recording, mastering, and producing my first solo album, but it does bring to mind my first cd, "Mercy", and that is one reason my new cd is called "Folk Music is Dead" i call myself a folk singer yet my first album was more or less a rock cd, but by all means i am no rock-n-roll singer/musician. i was put under the fire with that cd, in many different ways, even to the extent of having most of the credit for making/ writing/ singing/ playing on the album striped away from me, along with other things. but with the changing of the tides and my own state of mind, in which the final result of "Mercy" pushed me into and i am very greatfull that it did, "Folk Music is Dead" has no outside musical involvement or influence. and i promise that "Folk Music is Dead" will be much better then "Mercy" because i wont let you or myself down again.

so far i have 8 brand new songs ( never been recorded or released) and 5 songs that i have handed out and released on my website that i will be re-recording. and i hope to release it before christmas

p.s. after the final songs ends .... listen
